LAURENCE OLIVIER & THE CHICHESTER FESTIVAL THEATRE
We celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Chichester Festival Theatre, with a tribute to it’s first artistic director Laurence Olivier in 1962. This tribute displays both his greatness in the theatre with 3 classic plays, and his varied film career in the Cinema with 6 examples from Rebecca (1940) to Marathon Man (1976). The section includes a talk by David Rosenthal on the relationship between the Theatre and Cinema in Olivier’s reign, and Sarah Miles will reminisce about Laurence Olivier after a screening of Term of Trial - their first collaboration on film in 1962.
