Course synopsis
Over the Autumn, we will discuss how setting, character and themes from the original novels are portrayed in their movie counterparts. The materials will be a mixture of film and the written word in the form of the novels themselves – please read them if you can before hand and bring them along - and by watching selected extracts of the films of the books. The course will adopt a discussion style of teaching, definitely not a lecture style. We look forward to hearing your opinion! All classes will be from 13.30 to 15.30.
The course will be led by Rosemary Coxon. She lives in Oving and is a regular film goer and volunteer at Chichester Cinema. She has taught English at secondary school and adult level for 30+ years and is employed as an English adviser to secondary schools in the South East.
