Course synopsis
We will look at how well known classics are transformed into film, by discussing how setting, character and themes are portrayed. The materials will be a mixture of film and the written word in the form of the books themselves – please read them if you can before hand and bring them along – we will read extracts of the books and watch selected extracts of famous film adaptations. The course will be led by Rosemary Coxon and will adopt a discussion style of teaching. Rosemary lives in Oving and is a regular film goer and volunteer at Chichester Cinema. She has taught English at secondary school and adult level for 30+ years and is employed as an English adviser to secondary schools in the South East. All classes will run for 2 hours and are designed to be attended singularly or as a course.
