Jar City
- Myrin

Detective Erlendur (Ingvar Sigurdsson) investigates what he considers to be a typically 'messy and pointless' crime, but when a local lowlife is found murdered, Erlendur and his two partners soon discover there may be greater and darker forces at play. Elsewhere in the area, a father mourning the death of his daughter from a genetic condition obsessively searches for information on the origin of the disease. These two apparently disparate stories dramatically converge around a commercial databank which, controversially, holds genetic information on all of Iceland's inhabitants.

Myrin is the third instalment of Arnaldur Indridason's 'Erlendur series' (published in the UK under the titles Jar City and Tainted Blood). As one of the most important new Icelandic directors Kormákur seems ideally placed then to transpose the writer's fiction to film.

And in Jar City Kormákur's prevailing heavy mood, multi-layered story-telling and focus on the minutiae of police procedure impressively translate the spirit of Indirdason's gripping, authentic, and haunting prose. (subtitles)
