Seven adult actors playing seven 9 year olds wandering around a lovely Gloucester woodland in the Summer of 1943. A risky proposition for a film but Potter had tried out the device briefly before and we now committed to the great adventure.
Blue Remembered Hills has now become one of Potter’s most loved pieces spawning a very successful stage version and attracting much admiration and formal honours in its own right. The cast includes Helen Mirren and Colin Welland who will be attending the festival. Welland says “I found the whole experience the most satisfying of my career. We were treading where no one had been before. That we all ultimately succeeded was a tribute to Dennis’s script and the patience and skill of and everyone involved”.
