Probably the best known and liked of Simon Gray’s screenplays is After Pilkington. Bob Peck is Westgate, an Oxford academic who, when introduced to the wife of a new faculty member, discovers that she was his childhood sweetheart. It won the Prix Italia and there were BAFTA nominations, especially for Miranda Richardson whose performance as Penny carries the weight of the film’s devastating shift from comedy to tragedy.
We hope to welcome the writer Simon Gray and director Christopher Morahan to introduce their film.
