Promoted to Glory
CHICHESTER INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

Kenith Trodd, Producer:
A Selective Retrospective of his work with major screen talent 1969-2004 including Dennis Potter, Simon Gray, Stephen Poliakoff, Pat O’Connor and Christopher Morahan.

14th Event

A filthy tramp lurches across the road to reach a beautiful woman. And then?
Promoted to Glory is a highly successful and unusual film made for ITV, the eventual fruit of a long ambition of Ken Trodd and writer Rob Heyland to make a story set around the Salvation Army. The stars are Ken Stott, Lesley Manville and Kevin Whately (Inspector Morse, Auf Wiedersehn Pet) all of whom push themselves beyond their usual range. Kevin Whately said “I don’t usually like my own stuff, but this bowled me over”.
“What seems at first to be a stock drama about salvation in the festive season becomes something far more touching and ambiguous”. Sunday Telegraph.

We hope to welcome the director Richard Spence to introduce this film.
