LICKING HITLER

The 18th Chichester International Film Festival

We are pleased to welcome DAVID HARE to introduce this film, followed by a post-screening Q & A

Still one of Hare’s most critically acclaimed works in any medium, Licking Hitler brilliantly re-examined WW11 to show the morally destabilising and ambiguous effects of propaganda, and provided the inspirational template for such later radical TV films as The Imitation Game and Rainy Day Women. It is 1941 and Anna, from a sheltered home, is sent deep into the countryside to work in secret with a Glaswegian journalist. She finds herself in a brutal and sinister world. With Kate Nelligan, Bill Paterson.
