EXTRA DOCUMENTARY
Tati’s world is explored by actor Roy Hudd, artist / writer Michel Chion, and, Tati’s daughter Sophie Tatischeff. Contemporary Paris, and its people, is compared to the Paris of Tati’s films – Mon Oncle and Playtime. Tati’s vision is alive and well as Hudd and Chion explore La Defense, St Germain-en-Laye, the Musee D’Orsay, the Marais and the Place des Vosges where they fleetingly meet.
Sophie gives an original insight into M. Tati – his temperament, filming techniques and themes. David Furnham’s documentary Tati- A Chance to Whistle suggests that in our own modern technological world we can all still find Tati characters if we choose to, and we can still smile as life’s little absurdities pass us by!(some subtitles)
David Furnham, the director will introduce the film and discuss Tati’s work with the audience.
