A BBC Omnibus documentary about the colourful life of the surrealist artist Leonora Carrington (b.1917) - the subject of Pallant House Gallery’s ‘Surreal Friends’ - from her upbringing in Lancashire to her current home in Mexico City. Born to an affluent middle-class family, Carrington was the former debutante who ran away to join the Surrealists in Paris in the 1930s. Later she suffered a nervous breakdown and fled to Spain where she was briefly incarcerated in an asylum. Currently she lives and works in Mexico City.
Both Documentaries - Free with Gallery admission. Please book in advance - call Pallant House Gallery on +44 (0)1243 774557. Mutual admission benefits apply for Friends of Pallant House Gallery and the Friends of Chichester Cinema at New Park.
