Lisbeth Salander returns in this gripping 2nd instalment of the incredibly popular Stieg Larsson's Millennium trilogy.
We are proud to present the British Premiere of the most eagerly awaited thriller of the year. Lisbeth Salander (Noomi Rapace) returns in ‘The Girl who Played with Fire’ and is forced to go back to Sweden from her Caribbean exile when she discovers her guardian Bjurman (Peter Andersson), is breaking the conditions of their ‘arrangement.’
Meanwhile, Mikael Blomkvist (Michael Nyqvist) is back at Millennium magazine having successfully vindicated himself after a prison sentence for libel by proving the case against a gun-runner, and is now intent on exposing a billion dollar sex trafficking ring.
When Bjurman is found murdered and two Millennium researchers are shot dead by Bjurman’s gun, Salander’s fingerprints are on the weapon and she emerges as the police’s chief suspect. Determined to prove her innocence, Blomkvist attempts to track down his former partner and lover and uncover the truth. Already in hiding, Salander is forced to go on the run and soon stumbles upon secrets of her own past.
‘The Girl who Played with Fire’ is filled with the same feminist energy as its predecessor and Rapace pulls her amazing and complex role again with such a skill that must be applauded. Lisbeth is a female character with an attitude that is seldom seen in movies these days, and this along with her strange and horrifying past makes her one of the most interesting movie female characters in a long time! But we still don't know how Lisbeth got that dragon tattoo - for that we must wait until November for the concluding part of this extraordinary trilogy. (Subtitles)
